Patrick – Qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist | Anxiety, Grief, Workplace Stress & Life Changes

Hi, I'm Patrick.

I work with adults who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck or disconnected from themselves. You might be dealing with grief, workplace stress, relationship difficulties, the effects of past experiences or a major change in your life. You may also simply feel that something is not right, even if you cannot yet put it into words.

About Me

I believe therapy begins with feeling genuinely heard. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and explore what is happening at a pace that feels manageable.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 30 years working in demanding professional environments. This gives me a particular understanding of workplace stress, burnout, loss of identity, career change and the challenge of beginning again.

Who I Work With

I work with adults aged 18 and over. People come to therapy for many reasons, including workplace stress and burnout, anxiety, low mood, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, the effects of difficult past experiences, life transitions and personal growth.

You do not need to have a diagnosis or a clear explanation for how you feel.

Workplace Stress, Burnout & Life Change

Work can affect far more than our working hours. Pressure, conflict, redundancy, retirement or a change of direction can influence confidence, identity, relationships and our sense of purpose. My own professional background helps me understand these pressures, while keeping the focus on your individual experience.

Grief & Bereavement

Grief can follow bereavement, but it can also arise after the loss of a relationship, role, career, health or hoped-for future. Therapy can provide space to make sense of that loss without pressure to move on before you are ready.

My Approach

My approach is warm, humanistic and person-centred. I may also draw on existential and psychodynamic perspectives to help us explore both what is happening in your life now and how earlier experiences may continue to affect how you feel, relate to others or see yourself.

In practical terms, this means working together at a pace that feels manageable, with CBT-informed ideas where they may be helpful. My role is not to tell you how to live your life; we explore what may be shaping it and the choices that feel right for you.

Professional Standards

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College and Middlesex University. I am fully insured, attend regular clinical supervision and am working towards IACP accreditation.
