Dave — Student Counsellor
B.A. (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy (in progress)
Hi, I’m Dave, a dedicated and compassionate student counsellor working towards a B.A. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy. My approach is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, which emphasises empathy, unconditional positive regard, and the belief in each individual’s inherent potential for personal growth.
I have worked in HR, Healthcare, Social Care and Addiction Projects for many years in both the public and private sectors. I returned to college to pursue counselling because I have a strong desire to work with and assist others.
Throughout my career and personal life I have encountered several challenges, but through self-reflection and personal growth I can now use them as valuable learning experiences. At certain times in our lives, we can find situations and experiences to be overwhelming. Having someone who will sit with and support us as we go through these experiences — and develop deeper insight into ourselves — can facilitate greater change and growth than we ever thought possible. I provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for all individuals, without fear or judgement.
Seeking therapy, or returning after some time away, can feel daunting. It can be difficult to know what to say or how to approach the first sessions. I will work with you to help clarify your objectives — whether in life, relationships, or specific challenges that arise. I can meet you where you are, whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship or workplace difficulties, or navigating a particularly tough situation. Together, we can map out a clear and supportive path forward that best suits you. I look forward to working with you soon.
