Ciaran Doherty — Humanistic-Integrative Therapist

I work as a humanistic and integrative therapist. This approach involves a holistic view of the individual and is rooted in a person-centred philosophy; it recognises that no two clients are the same. However, we all encounter difficulties in our lives, at different stages in our journey. As a therapist, I strive to offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can unpack some of the issues that are currently holding you back or unsettling you.

I believe that even in the short-term, therapy has the potential to help you to make sense of the difficulties you are currently experiencing, to process earlier life experiences that have shaped you, and to identify and implement those changes that you are seeking to make. It asks us to look back whilst also looking to the future. For many people, therapy enables them to identify patterns of thoughts or behaviours that are causing pain, distress, or a sense of stuck-ness.

I offer a calm and supportive environment in which both of us attend to the goals that you bring to the room. These ‘goals’ may change, and indeed it is okay to begin the process without any specific targets — sometimes simply showing up is the hardest part. Whether or not you have previous experience of counselling, the process is about deepening self-knowledge and self-awareness.

I support clients to achieve greater clarity about what they want from their lives and relationships. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed or lonely, struggling in a relationship or workplace, or trying to navigate a particularly stressful situation, I can meet you where you’re at. From there we can work collaboratively to chart a clearer road forward.
