Alix Gillece – Integrative Counsellor and Art Psychotherapist
Working with individuals 16+
I’m an Integrative Counsellor with a B.A. (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Art Psychotherapy. I work with individuals and groups who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, body image concerns, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, feeling stuck, or the impact of mental health diagnoses.
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and finding the right person to talk to is important. My aim is to offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we can slow things down, explore what you’re experiencing and make sense of things at a pace that feels right for you.
I recognise that everyone’s experience is unique, so I take a collaborative and client-led approach to therapy. This means we work together to understand what feels most important to you and what you would like support with.
Alongside talk therapy, I can also incorporate creative approaches and elements of art therapy where this feels helpful. Creativity can offer another way to explore feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. There is no expectation to be ‘good at art’ these creative approaches are simply another option we can explore together.
My background in visual arts, experience working with children, and work within a mental health hospital have all shaped the way I work. Through working with both individuals and groups, I have had the opportunity to support people through a range of experiences and challenges. These experiences have strengthened my appreciation of the importance of connection, creativity and having a space where people feel heard and understood.
Healing can begin through awareness, connection and working together. By gently noticing our thoughts, feelings and experiences, we can begin to understand ourselves with greater kindness and recognise how our experiences shape us.
Therapy can offer a safe and supportive space to explore what you may be carrying, understand how it affects you today, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Together, we can create space for growth, healing and connection. All at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you.
If you feel that counselling could be helpful for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch. We can have a conversation about what you’re looking for and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
