What is Relational Body Psychotherapy?

Relational Body Psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy that also pays attention to the body and the nervous system.

How is it different from traditional counselling?

Traditional counselling focuses mainly on thoughts and understanding experiences. Body psychotherapy also includes what you feel in your body, such as tension, numbness, anxiety, tightness, or emotional reactions.

Why is the body included in therapy?

Experiences are stored not only in the mind but also in the body. Physical sensations often hold important information about stress, emotions, and past experiences.

What does “relational” mean?

The therapeutic relationship itself is part of the healing process. Feeling safely met, understood, and supported helps create experiences of trust, safety, and emotional regulation.

What happens in a session?
  • We talk about what is happening in your life
  • We gently notice what is happening in your body and emotions
  • We work at a pace that feels safe for your nervous system
  • Change happens through felt experiences of safety and connection
Who is this approach helpful for?

This approach is helpful for anxiety, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, trauma, and relationship difficulties, especially when struggles feel deeper than thoughts alone.
